Your Friendly Reading Companion For Everything Art and Design

This project is a collaborative work between the students within the different Faculties of Design in Lasalle College of the Arts, and it is a component of the Design Literature and Criticism module.

&then is your witty companion towards approaching art and design, written for the 'scaredy cat' (kidding, haha) Singaporean thinking of going to art museums and galleries for the first time. (This editorial strives to tear down the barriers one might have of art museums and galleries.) It is designed to be an easy, but informative introduction to several components that make up a place of art, and discussions around on-beat issues about creativity. For this issue, we are serving up (some may say cutting up) Gallery & Co. on a platter for you to savour.

Our tone of voice for the magazine is light-hearted and easy to read for the young millennial. The magazine's approach sometimes includes informal patois spoken colloquial terms familiar to the seasoned Singaporean. These nuances are used to balance out the formality of the written content of the magazine so that the criticism can be subtle yet impactful at the same time.

&then consists of several editors specialised in various distinct fields, committed towards cultivating an authentic and critical, yet relatable voice in design criticism. We play undercover in several of our tasks when exploring Gallery & Co., daring to ask questions in order to provide our readers with fulfilling answers. For this issue, each article pens down "what's good" and "what's bad" (really, is anything perfect?) at Gallery & Co., and may include an underlining discussion about a critical issue revolving around the world of art and design at hand.
